Frank and Joe are accompanied on all their adventures by their particular chum, the chubby farmboy Chet Morton. After Frank and Joe solve their first case, Fenton—although he had not wanted his sons to get into the detective business because of the dangers involved—starts asking for their help on some of his cases. For instance, they find Jenson but then sit around and discuss the case in great detail with Jenson, giving the criminals time to catch up with them.
